Organic farming means that plants like fruits, vegetables and grains are grown without the use of chemical pesticides and artificial fertilizers. Organic farming also supports more sustainable growing practices and crop rotation. It should be known that the soil itself is healthier and therefore the food is more nutritious. Less use of chemical toxins will grow market produce which is better for the health and well-being of the consumers.

Animals on organic farms eat organically grown feed. They are not confined 100 percent all the time. Since some animals are on conventional farms sometimes, they are raised without antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones.

Pesticide contamination is not as much of a concern in meats and dairy products as some animals may consume some pesticides, depending on their diet. The main concern is the antibiotics being given to most farm animals. Humans rely on some of these antibiotics. It should be noted that overuse of these drugs has already enabled bacteria to develop resistance to them, rendering them less effective in fighting infection.

Organic Farming is designed to extend utmost care to various communities within the agro-ecosystem. It includes soil organisms, plants, animals, the farmers, as well as the end-consumers alike.

It reduces pollutants in groundwater and creates richer soil that aids plant growth while reducing erosion. It also decreases pesticides that can end up in your drinking water.It has been known that in some cities, pesticides in tap water have been measured at unsafe levels for weeks at a time.

Organic produce must be grown without synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetically modified organisms.Organic meat has to come from animals that were raised in a natural setting.These animals did not receive any antibiotics or hormones. They were fed 100 percent organic feeds so it is natural based.

It has been known that organic food shave fewer pesticide residues than conventionally grown produce. But the amounts for both types of produce are within the level for safe consumption.
